The oh-so-versatile throw pillow {eight ideas for Halloween}

Ah, yes. The throw pillow. Small and decorative. Aesthetic yet functional, too. Throw pillows are usually placed on couches or armchairs, but they are also frequently used on beds, day beds and floors. Throw pillows serve a dual purpose. Their decorative nature allows them to tie in color accents within a room, often drawing on the colors in drapes, walls or area rugs. While their functional perspective includes offering back, neck and head support, or a snuggle buddy for reading or watching television.

How my family has inspired my sewing

My family has always been the  inspiration behind my sewing creations. (You can read more about how it all started here.) From Halloween costumes, outfits, and toys for the little ones– to more practical creations like wall organizers and duffel bags for the grown-ups, members of my family have long been “testers” in the sewing lab of Draw That Pig.

So I decided to purchase the pattern, whip up a few of these monsters for my kiddos, and see how they might fit this bill.  Continue reading

Me: I sew unique gift items for children and women, and I create bridal accessories, too.

Most everyone else: Wow. I never would have guessed that. Why the name Draw That Pig? Here’s my story …   Continue reading

My First Blog Post {and 10 things about me}

Hi! and welcome to my blog Draw That Pig. I’m happy that you are here!

I have been wanting to start a blog for several years. And then I never did. Because … well … the start-up scared me (it still kinda does). And I didn’t really have time (you have to make time, silly). And, of course, what should I write about? Would anyone read it? (Really, would anyone WANT to read it?)

And, then, recently my 24-year old got a tattoo. Continue reading
